Zillow Commission Lawsuit: Major Real Estate Legal Updates and Settlements

Zillow and major brokerages push to dismiss commission lawsuits as legal activity surges. Recent updates include settlement appeals and stay motions involving firms like Anywhere and Hanna Holdings.
On Feb. 20, Zillow submitted an activity to dismiss the situation, claiming it was “thin on compound,” and asked for a keep. Today, the search titan and the complainants in the match filed a joint condition upgrade in which Zillow stated its request to pause the case pending a ruling on the termination motion.
In the March 11 declaring, Zillow and the various other offenders– that include The Actual Broker agent and three real estate groups– suggested that “a stay is the most appropriate and reliable training course” due to the fact that they believe “this activity is likely to be rejected in its whole or, at a minimum, significantly narrowed.” The complainants have previously referred to that debate as “conjecture” and “based upon their plain belief that their activities to disregard will certainly take care of all of Complainants’ claims.”
Defendants Seek Stay in Ongoing Litigation
A flurry of court task entailing real estate business has taken place over the past week, with updates, authorizations and appeals filed in a handful of situations including payments and claims of RESPA violations.
While Anywhere was not a called defendant in Tuccori, it was amongst the accuseds in Batton, a similar payments case brought by property buyers. An October 2025 settlement arrangement in Tuccori allowed companies prosecuting the same cases in various other legal actions to participate in the bargain.
Commission Settlements and Recent Appeals
Springtime Means Center LLC and a group of objectors submitted a charm on March 5 testing the deals reached with Hanna Holdings, William Raveis, Departure Real Estate, Windermere and Lyon that added a mixed $39.7 million to the settlement fund.
Batton complainants charged Anywhere of trying to settle “on the affordable” by opting in to Tuccori– an insurance claim Anywhere rejected. The other broker agents that decided in were Actual, The Keyes Company and Illustrated Feature, and Vanguard Properties. They agreed to pay a combined $10.8 million into the settlement fund.
